We are super excited to announce our Christmas partnership with The Felix Project, launching in Crussh stores on November 11th
The Felix Project are a London-based charity who tackle the two issues of food poverty and environmentally damaging food waste, by rescuing good food that cannot be sold and would otherwise go in the bin!
We are supporting this amazing initiative with our new smoothie ‘The Festive Fixer’
We’ll be donating 50p from each sale to The Felix Project and joining their volunteering teams to deliver surplus food from Crussh outlets to those in need.
How the Felix Project Works
Felix Project staff, and their volunteers collect and receive food from 175 suppliers, including supermarkets, wholesalers, farms, restaurants and delis. This food is high-quality and nutritious, including a high proportion of fresh fruit and vegetables, baked goods, salads, meat and fish.
The food donations are sorted and delivered to charities that cook meals and prepare food parcels for vulnerable people, including the homeless, refugees and the elderly, and to primary schools to distribute to children and their families.
This year The Felix Project will help to rescue 2,500 tonnes of surplus food and deliver it to more than 310 London frontline charities and primary schools. This is enough food to make almost 6.5 million meals for people in need.[1]
It’s estimated that more than eight million people in the UK struggle to afford to eat every day,[2] while our food industry generates 100,000 tonnes of edible food waste each year.[3] When food is wasted, all the energy and water it takes to grow, harvest, transport, and package it is wasted too. Reducing food waste is a critical part of the fight against climate change.
Every 50p donated to The Felix Project saves about £2.50 of food, and we reckon that’s a good enough reason alone to try our smoothie!
The Festive Fixer you say? What does it fix?
This smoothie will help with your Christmas post-party recovery by freshly blending frozen yogurt, coconut water, blueberries, pineapple, banana & ginger. Each ingredient has been specifically picked to provide hydration, stomach soothing or energy, making it the MUST HAVE day-after-the-night-before tonic to perk you up
Available in main Crussh stores from Mon 11th November, right through till the 5th Jan.
Sadly this smoothie is not available in Crussh Olympia, St. Albans, Sainsbury’s Pimlico, Paddington, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Bristol UWE, City University London.
