Without further ado, here’s our top 5 tips on how to sustain a healthy & happy heart

1) Get in your 5 A Day
Consuming at least 5 portions of fruit and veg a day is a great way to maintain a healthy body & mind. Staying at a healthy weight may reduce likelihood of heart disease.

2) Sleep more
Independent of your age or health habits, having 7 to 8 hours of sleep per night is crucial to showing your heart some love. Little sleep means little structure, and can cause disruptions to normal bodily function, putting pressure on heart health.

3) Sustain your Cholesterol
Your cholesterol levels may have a huge influence on heart health. Even just being conscious of your cholesterol is a step in the right direction. Ensuring your diet has as much variety as possible, swapping high saturated fats to natural fats and cutting out smoking and drinking may significantly increase your heart health.

4) Start Meditation
Achieving a state of mindfulness can help the heart and overall body achieve a state of calmness. Cardiologists often advise their clients to meditate and read books as a means of reducing stress and therefore pressure on the heart.

5) Stay Active

The NHS insists that staying active during the day can reduce risk of developing heart disease. A little walk in between meetings or tube stations will get you started on the right track!
