Michelle Martinez and her partner Werner Botes are the founders of Bionic Bodies, an elite and bespoke personal training company in London. Their innovative signature training methods vary from HIIT work outs, to core strengthening, and everything in between. We asked Michelle to give us her top training tips for Summer and here’s what she said…

1. Get outdoors
There are many benefits of taking your workout outdoors. It’s a great way to get your daily Vit D hit, work on that tan & it’s simply the best way to make the most of Summer. There are some great exercises that don’t require any gym equipment; lunges, squats, crunches, tricep dips and park bench push ups. All you need to do is chose your favourite park and get yourself down there!

2. HIIT work outs for a beach body
Summer means holidays and holidays mean shorts and bikinis! HIIT (High intensity interval training) workouts are designed for a speedy fat loss and/or a quick tone up. If you put in your all, a 30 minute HIIT session is all you need to work off the Christmas pudding that decided to extend its stay.

3.  Stay hydrated
We’ve already seen some extremely hot days, but we hope the best has yet to come! Keeping your body hydrated by drinking lots of water is not just great for cooling down, it also helps increase your energy, flush out toxins and can help promote weight loss.

4. Try an aqua workout
Water workouts are a great way to stay in shape if you’re injured, as the water puts less pressure on your joints. Not only is it great fun and keeps you cool, it can also help increase muscle strength & build endurance.

5. Summer Fruit & Veg
Refuelling with the right nutrients after a workout is crucial as it helps your body repair, restore & recover. Blitz your faves up in the juicer, whip up a beautiful breakfast bowl or cook up a storm, take any opportunity to get your 5-a-day in!
